Ragioni Tecniche, a contemporary art gallery in Venice, Italy, is pleased to announce its new exhibition called “Unscripted: Venetian Ecosystems.” The first in a series of annual group exhibitions featuring artists from Venice and its environs called RAGIONI VENEZIANI is a gift to Venice. As such it provides La Serenissima with a look at it’s own reflection through the eyes of its own, often overlooked artists.

Curated by  51 LIRE a group of four women curators based in Venice (Anna Lazzari, Marta Blanchietti, Giulia Gelmi, and Irene De Toni) Unscripted proposes a choral, ironic and layered meditation on the peculiarities of Venetian life, and on the complexity and fragility of its ecosystem.

Through different artistic expressions and languages, the project investigates the Venetian “ecosystem”, through its dense networks of actors, significances and relationships. Unscripted: Venetian Ecosystems plays with opposing elements characteristic of the city surrounded by lagoon: silence and noise, emptiness and fullness. This dichotomy emerges from the selected works of the artists, in a dialogue between photography, video and sound that animates the gallery space.

The artists included are Lara Barzon (with Luca Manfredi), Arianna Favaretto Cortese, Matteo Losurdo, Roberto Moro, Francesco Piva and Chiara Tubia.

Ragioni Tecniche Director and Founder, George Magalios, comments on the exhibition and its origins:

Ragioni Veneziane is an idea whose origins come from the notion that Venice has a vibrant community of contemporary artists who are not represented by the spaces in the city. I created the series in an effort to bring an annual forum of vibrant and original work to this most International of cities. With 51Lire proposing Unscripted thanks to their relationships with the artists of the region we found a beautiful way to initiate the series of group exhibitions and to bring new work to Venetians. Our shared vision is to enchant La Serenissima (as Venice is called) with its own photographers, sound artists, painters, sculptors and performance artists.

The exhibition will include a talk by the curator and the artists. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, 20 November at the Gallery and will begin at 6pm. It is open to the public. The exhibition will run from 10 November 2022 to 10 January 2023.
