The California-based Healthcare Group, Kaiser Permanente, recently announced the appointment of Dr. Shayan Rahman as their new Assistant Chief of Neurosurgery. Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Rahman is an alumnus of UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine and a noted Los Angeles-based neurosurgeon.
The new appointment indicates Dr. Rahman’s rise among the ranks of America’s neurosurgeons. He is noted for his unique approach to patient-doctor interactions that values understanding both the emotional and physical components of a patient’s condition. Dr. Rahman is also an Assistant Clinical Professor and Site Director for the UCLA Neurosurgery Residence.
His commitment to his profession as both a practicing surgeon and an educator have earned him many awards within his field and in his Southern California community. Born in Ohio, Dr. Rahman spent the majority of his childhood in Southern California.
After earning an undergraduate degree in Biology Dr. Rahman undertook residencies the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center in Los Angeles for neurosurgery and a fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor.
