G-Star Students Travel to North Florida for Farming Documentary

g-star-farm-3(PINETTA, FL) MARCH 18, 2016– Four G-Star students hit the road recently to film a documentary on Organic Dairy Goat Farming.

G-star-farm2Ben Aubrey, Cheyenne Thompson-Covington, Abby Longhofer and Angela Nero arrived on the grounds of Serenity Acres Farm where they immediately became fast friends with the people and the animals. The farm is home to over 60 goats, 100 chickens, 3 horses, a small Black Angus herd and the “guardians” a pack of 8 Great Pyrenees dogs that roam the property keeping the livestock safe from predators and intruders. Serenity Acres Farm is also home to a staff of “wwoofers” (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) – volunteers from around the world that gain experience working on an organic farm in return for room and board.

g-star-farm1Filming was done over a 2 day period to include animal husbandry, milking, yogurt and cheese making and the production of soaps and lotions that are marketed internationally.  Not only did the student crew have an opportunity to use their film and production skills in a truly unique setting, but they experienced a weekend they will never forget – making new friends and spending time away from the hustle and bustle of South Florida in a nurturing rural environment.
